Westgate village is a little Gem. We really enjoyed the Carvey in the pub oppersite, everything freshly cooked and you definitely must book. We loved the Derwent Arms, the food was delicious and the drive is wonderful over the fells. A walk to Slit Wood is a must!! It's beautiful! We visited the near by High Force Waterfalls, Cow Green Reservoir, Cauldron Snout Waterfall and Grassholme Observatory was fantastic really enjoyed star gazing. The cottage was perfect for us, great shower and very comfy bed. Kitchen had everything we needed... Loved it had a Tassimo coffee maker. Games room was such a bonus and heats up quickly. We didn't use the garden above that much but loved viewing the local Hens & Cockerels in the shed next door. There are even peacocks roaming the village. Perfect stay for my hubby's 50th. We will definitely return and also try kays other cottage. We felt right at home. Thank you!! June 2024
